Kay Brown, Vice Chair, represents Georgia’s 12th Congressional District. She and her family live in Statesboro.
From 1986-2002, Brown served as Executive Director of the First District Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA). Previously, she was Director of Administrative Services, Jackson County Schools, for two years; a part-time instructor at the University of Georgia (UGA) for three years; and a classroom teacher with Gwinnett County Schools for 12 years.
Brown earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, a Master’s in Art Education, and a Doctor of Education degree from the UGA. She has done Post-doctoral study in Educational Administration at UGA.
She has been active in many civic and professional organizations, often serving in leadership roles. She has served as President of the Georgia Southern University College of Education Advisory Board and President of the Rotary Club of Downtown Statesboro. She a longtime member of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders and the Georgia School Superintendents' Association.
Kay Brown was appointed to the GSFC Board of Commissioners in August 2004, and was reappointed March 2009. Her current term expires in January 2015.
