We are aware and respectful of your personal privacy when you transact business on our web site.

As a customer of the Georgia Higher Education Assistance Corporation (GHEAC), we recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of your personal information.

This Privacy Statement tells you how we will utilize information that we collect from you on our web site, when you send us e-mail or respond to a survey.
What information do we collect and how do we use it?

We collect information necessary to provide you educational loan program services through our GHEAC Single Source Partners (SSP) program in cooperation with participating schools and lenders. We utilize the information to determine your eligibility for participation in the Federal Family Educational Loan Programs administered by us for which you, your school or designated lender have authorized us to collect and process on your and/or their behalf.

When you send us e-mail, we will retain the contents of the e-mail and your e-mail address so that we can appropriately respond to you. In response to surveys, we will retain your name and address information to perform any necessary follow up to the survey or to use for future surveys. We use both e-mail and information gathered through surveys to identify issues and opportunities to improve services to all of our customers.
Who do we share information with?

We share eligibility information among the programs described on this Web site that are administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission. We will release information pertinent to your loan to your schools, lenders or their agents or GHEAC's agents, to references on the applicable loans and to members of your immediate family; and we will share information by and among your schools, lenders, guarantors (such as GHEAC), the U.S. Department of Education, state licensing agencies, boards, commissions, departments, and their agents. Should your loan default, we may share information with your employer and all national credit bureaus.
How do I access my loan information?

You may gain access to your loan information by utilizing the 'View Your Loan Information' (IBIS) tab on this page. You may also send us e-mail using the 'Phone and e-mail Directory' tab found at the bottom of this page.
How is my information protected?

To insure the security of your data while in transmission, we utilize Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Do I have to provide information or obtain access to my information on this Web site?

No, you may provide information to GHEAC by paper. You may print forms from this web site and fax or mail to the number or address shown on the form. GHEAC will provide information back to you either by fax or mail as specified by you.
Notice of collection of identity information
for verification and anti-fraud purposes

The principal purpose for collecting identification information, including your Social Security Number, is to verify your identity, to determine your eligibility and benefits for financial aid programs administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission.

The routine uses of this information include its disclosure to federal, state or local agencies and private parties in order to verify your identity to determine your eligibility to receive a loan or a benefit on a loan, to permit the servicing or collection of your loan(s), to counsel you in repayment efforts, to enforce the terms of the loan(s), to investigate possible fraud and to verify compliance with financial aid program regulations.

Disclosure of your Social Security Number is required to participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program.

Your Social Security Number will be used to verify you identity. As an identifier the Social Security Number is used in such financial aid program activities as determining your program eligibility.
