Free college financial aid chat session for non-traditional students June 14
Free professional financial aid advice will be available on Thursday, June 14, from 7 until 9 p.m. for non-traditional students anywhere in Georgia who want to go to college. Financial aid counselors from the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC) will be available to answer questions via an Internet chat session.
"Non-traditional" refers to those students who may have graduated from high school and waited several years before entering or returning to college. The Non-Traditional Student Chat Session offers both convenience and privacy while giving advice on the college admissions and financial aid processes.
"Finding the money as well as the time for higher education can be a large task for non-traditional students. We want to make it easier by answering, in complete privacy, any question they may have about the process, especially about any financial aid that is available to them," said Glenn Newsome, GSFC executive director.
Prospective non-traditional students may participate by logging on to www.gsfc.org and clicking on Mapping-Your-Future or they may go directly to www.mapping-your-future.org. Participants may register now and receive an e-mail reminder before the session.
The Mapping Your Future Web site is sponsored by a group of guaranty agencies that participate in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP), including the Georgia Higher Education Assistance Corporation, which is a division of GSFC. A goal of both GSFC and Mapping Your Future is to provide "accurate, up-to-date information" about student aid.
Questions and answers from the interactive Non-Traditional Student Chat Session will be archived and available later at www.mapping-your-future.org.
